Let’s talk about something many people choose to avoid. I’m talking about the dentist! I think my whole life people around me have instilled a fear for anything associated with a Dentist. My whole perception of dentists changed this year when I came to know about DFY dental. Working with DFY dental has not only helped my gums and teeth get into a healthier and better shape they also found ways to fix some of the many problems I was experiencing post braces.
Today I am going to share with you the first part of my journey to better teeth. I’ll be documenting over the coming weeks my experience and treatments with DFY dental and how they personally have transformed my everyday experience with my teeth.
To be completely honest I think getting braces at the early age of 12 was too young. I hadn’t really digested the importance of taking care of my teeth and I definitely wasn’t foreseeing the impact it would have on my future teeth (post braces). It’s one of those experiences that you only experience once but if you do it wrong you’d definitely regret it. I had some regrets when it came to braces. Yes sure it did make my teeth the right alignment and overall bite was right but I found the areas surrounding where the metal braces HAD been were quite brittle. This brittle feeling came from poor brushing during the time I had braces and sadly that damage wasn’t reversible. As you can imagine this caused a lot of sensitivities to my teeth.
When I met Dr Fadi for the first time at DFY dental we had to go through a routine of 2 separate thorough cleans. He wanted to make sure my gums and teeth were healthy before being properly assessed of my needs. It turns out I had quite a few holes that needed to be patched up and also a permanent straight wire on my bottom teeth (this is what they give you after you have your braces removed) that was preventing me from flossing properly.
Our first plan of attack was to patch up the holes and replace the straight wire with a new tech zig zag wire (which would allow me to floss). On my next post I’ll be taking you through my experience with the cleans and patching up the holes.
Let me know in the comment below what your dentist experiences are like, were you also scared?
