Good morning from all the way in Dubai! I’ve been spending my time lately in the beautiful Atlantis The Palm Hotel in Dubai. The hotel was nice enough to host me for my 27th birthday and I think this place is officially my favorite hotel of all time. There’s not only a waterpark, a chance to dive in the lagoon, the opportunity to sleep in an underwater suite, visit The Lost Chambers aquarium, be taken through a culinary journey but there’s even an underwater restaurant. This week I was lucky enough to try all of the above and can’t wait to show you what I get up to but today let’s talk about my birthday.
Dining in an underwater restaurant was a total first for me and to have the opportunity to dine at Ossiano was a bucket list I got to tick as I turned 27. Ossiano is a dining experience unlike anything else. With stunning views of the Ambassador Lagoon right from your table, Ossiano is the most luxurious dining experience at Atlantis. Each cocktail is made with the finest spirits and mixed with subtle flavours of sparkling date juice, fresh figs, aromatic basil, exotic hibiscus and special fragrantly delicate notes of lavender. This experience was truly a dream.
We started our experience in the bar area and were delighted by the welcome cocktail and little starter treats. The GM Badr then introduced himself and welcomed us to our seat which was right where the aquarium glass was right in front of us. Let me tell you the view was unbeatable and as spectacular as we imagined.
After this we were presented with a menu that let us choose between a set menu (4, 5 or 7 courses) or a la carte. We were recommended the 7 course menu so naturally we picked that.
For our starter we had a little palate cleanser and then ordered the Kelly Oyster and the Burratina Pugliese.
The second course was the Wagyu Beef Tartare and the Alaskan King Crab
Our third course was Foie Gras Berries and Rainbow Trout “Floating Island”
The fourth dish we had Challans Duck Breast and my personal favorite Hokkaido Scallops “Bouillabaisse”
The fifth course was Poached Blue Lobster and Caramelised Black Cod
Our pre-dessert sixth dish was “Mons” Cheese and our final dish was dessert where we had the Pear Genesis and Banana & Speculos Souffles
The food was absolutely spectacular and I highly recommend this experience for anyone who is visiting Dubai. What made this night extra special was the staff that served us. The GM Badr and our waiter Tshering made sure we were comfortable and always checked in on how we found our meal. They attended to us very well and even made mocktail pairings for our 7 course menu (which normally only had alcohol pairings). The team also baked me a tailor-made cake for my birthday and the top of the cake had MAC cosmetics and a cute Chanel purse. The GM Badr personally went onto my Instagram and looked at what style of cake I would like the most and had his team make this cake especially for me. It was one of the best surprises and I was absolutely overjoyed. If it were possible to top the cake they also had a diver personally dive down and hold a sign to wish me a happy birthday. This 27th birthday experience with Ossiano and Atlantis The Palm hotel was truly magical.
