Summer in Sydney is such a fun time. One of the reasons I enjoy Summer is not only time out on the beaches but also that extra bit of sun time during each 24 hour day of the precious 3 months of Summer. What better way than spending a late night in summer than to watch a movie on a big screen in the park.
I used to dream about what it would have been like for the generation before me to have gone on dates at the drive-in carpark cinemas. Sometimes I think it would be so much fun to live in a different time and experience those things which is why it was such a pleasure to have discovered Moonlight Cinema. Okay, so it’s not quite on par with the drive-in experience but it’s damn close!
The Moonlight Cinema experience is only available during the Summer months and since it is already February I was lucky enough to catch a day where they were screening a movie I wanted to see. Tonight we watched Murder on the Orient Express – such a fun crime thriller type of film. I’ve always enjoyed a good crime fiction novel so it was great to see the novel turned into a film. The screening started at 8.30pm sharp and we were sitting in the “Gold Grass” area which is slightly closer and considered VIP as the beanbag chairs were provided to us in these areas. You can enjoy the movie with some food, drinks or light snacks which are able to be purchased near the entrance.
Overall this was a great experience and I quite enjoyed relaxing on a bean bag watching the movie on a super big inflatable screen. Have you ever been to an outdoor cinema like this? Comment below if you would try this or if you already have let me know about your experience!
